Roll for Rating ("the app", "we", "us") is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu matching and rating app. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. Questions: hello@rollforrating.com.
Information we collect
When you create an account and use the app, we collect:
- Account info: email address, username, display name, and belt rank.
- Date of birth: used to determine your age tier (adult / teen / under-14) and to apply the protections described below. For members under 18 we also collect a parent or guardian's email address to obtain consent.
- Profile details you add: city/area, and whether you are open for a challenge.
- Activity data: matches you take part in (opponents, referee, result, ratings), puzzle answers and scores, quests, streaks, and similar in-app activity used to compute your rating, stats, and leaderboards.
- Optional media: photos or match videos you choose to upload, and your camera/photo-library access only at the moment you attach them.
- Purchases: your subscription status and Apple transaction identifiers, used to verify your subscription and grant access. Payment is processed entirely by Apple — we never see or store your card or payment details.
- Usage data: first-party in-app interaction events (for example which screens and features are used, app version, and a per-launch session id), used only to improve the app.
- Diagnostics: crash reports and performance data, collected without your name or email, used to find and fix bugs.
- Support requests: if you contact us from Help & Support, we keep your message and account email so we can reply.
We do not collect precise location, contacts, or advertising identifiers, and we do not use third-party advertising or tracking.
How we use it
- To run the core features: matching, ratings, leaderboards, puzzles, messaging within a match, and notifications.
- To keep minors safe (see below).
- To maintain and secure the service.
We do not sell your personal information.
Service providers
We share data only with vendors that operate the app on our behalf:
- Supabase — database, authentication, storage, and hosting of our backend.
- Apple — processes all subscription payments (In-App Purchase). We receive only the subscription status and transaction identifiers, never payment details.
- Sentry — crash and performance monitoring, configured to exclude personal identifiers.
- Anthropic (Claude) — when you submit a written puzzle answer, the question and your typed answer are sent to Anthropic's API to grade it. (Not used to train their models.)
- Resend — sends the parental-consent approval email for minor accounts.
Minors (under 18)
- Accounts for members under 18 are created restricted and cannot compete until a parent or guardian approves the account via an emailed link.
- Minors cannot wager rating, and their profiles are not publicly searchable until approved.
- Under-14 accounts are further limited: no public matches, no leaderboard, not searchable, and they can only be matched against other under-18 members.
- A parent/guardian may request access to or deletion of their child's data at hello@rollforrating.com.
Your choices and data deletion
- You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, profile, matches, and stats.
- You may also email hello@rollforrating.com to request access to or deletion of your data.
Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your associated records are removed from our database. Backups are purged on a rolling basis.
Changes
We may update this policy; we'll change the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
